Konrad Reinhart Receives Sepsisfonden Award at World Sepsis Day Event in Sweden

The Swedish Sepsisfonden awarded Prof. Reinhart with the Sepsisfonden Award at the 2023 World Sepsis Day Event at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm. Ulrika Knutsson and Dr. Adam Linder, founders of Sepsisfonden, highlighted the critical leadership role of Prof. Reinhart in the global sepsis movement, research, and advocacy, and how he has inspired the work of Sepsisfonden in Sweden and in the broader Nordics region.

The event was opened by the address from Acko Ankarberg Johansson – Minister for Healthcare, Ministry of Health and Social Affairs of Sweden, and attended by Dr. Malin Grape – Ambassador on Antimicrobial Resistance, Division for EU and International Affairs of the Ministry.

Representatives of the Karolinska Institute, researchers, and civil society partners presented their work on the national sepsis policies, tools, as well as advocacy activities implemented in Sweden in partnership with the national health authority and Sepsisfonden.

The Global Sepsis Alliance expresses special gratitude to Dr. Kristoffer Stralin and Dr. Lisa Mellhammar for their critical role in generating national sepsis policies and evidence, respectively, and to Shahrzad Kiavash for her unique role in sepsis awareness raising awareness and being an inspiration for thousands of sepsis survivors and their families globally.
